It was a nice book.
Wouldn’t the police look in the woods for Emma, even if she was push in the river. Just to be sure.

The premise and message for this book was amazing but the execution was absolutely horrendous. The timeline of this novel is so jumbled and poorly laid out, there could have been a better way of doing it. Not to mention it didn’t even feel like a story, it felt like I was being told a summary of events. Overall, I wish the story had been organized differently and the writing less of a play-by-play account

This book deals with so many different controversial topics. There's rape, LGBTQ romance, promiscuity, victimization, relationships, dealing with overbearing parents, and dealing with high school crap. The book starts off a bit slow, but it does pick up. I read the last half of the book in one sitting. The ending, at least to me, was justified. This is an emotional powerhouse that everyone should read.

Murph. It was okay. Clearly trying to imitate like a Cheerleaders and Karen McManus book. It felt like it took all of the interesting things and put them together. There were some weird aspects like the book was not completely cohesive and there were like large plot holes. Hated the jumpiness of the book, it felt like a good idea but the execution was bad. Bartlett just put together different pieces of the book—interview, diaries, and narration—but they did not flow with the cohesiveness she was aspiring to develop.

Almost DNF'd at 30% because I was bored of the interviews. It was a bit slow paced in the beginning but it turned out to be a fun read.

I didn't like the way the cheating was handled. I mean Avery was telling her friends that they think their bi teacher sleeps around because she's bi.. and then it turns out Avery is actually cheating on her boyfriend with a girl. And there was no confrontation, nothing. As much as I loved the LGBT+ representation, this was a no for me and I'm taking one star off for that.
I wished we knew more about what happened to Emma at the end. She just disappeared.

Love the cover and this is going to be one of my favorites, it's what I've been looking for, suspense, mystery without romance being so intertwined with the plot.
