The challenging thing about Constantine is that he's one of those character's who's an asshole, but in a likeable sort of way. This book, unfortunately, lacked this likability for me as it was often hard to understand our protagonist's motivation.
Reading this trade as a whole without reading JL Dark and other 'Trinity War' related books makes the issue guest-starring Shazam somewhat confusing. Generally, refereces to other DC characters who do not actually appear in this book don't seem to serve the plot in any way besides reminding you of the universe which he is in.
What I will give this book is that it had a few fun action/magic sequences. Even though the art style is not my particular cup of tea, I understand that it contributed to the darker tone of the book, to which it fit quite well.
