"In the darkness, two shadows, reaching through the hopeless, heavy dusk. Their hands meet, and light spills in a flood like a hundred golden urns pouring out of the sun." Absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. An incredible and refreshing pastiche in true homeric fashion, The Song of Achilles is a testament to the dangers of hubris and the high price one pays for glory. With prose so stunning and lyrical you'd mistake it for poetry, The Song of Achilles pays tribute to the past with the taste of the future. Just like Patroclus, "I listened to every word, imagining it was a story only. As if it were dark figures on an urn he spoke of instead of men."

Very well written and a good story...I didn't always enjoy reading it because essentially it's a love story and a war story and I don't like either, but it was a beautiful love story, and the war element was very well done also. I really liked that it was a homosexual love story as I think that's something that is very often ignored when talking of the ancient myths and legends. 3.5 stars.

I think I’ll be emotionally ok if I just never think about this book again.

This book was absolutely fantastic. There are legitimately no words that express how good this book is, WHAT.
