A monkey begins playing a rhythmic beat on a drum, which is quickly picked up by tens then hundreds then millions of other monkey.

A cute and rhythmic story with repetitive phrases.

I didn't realize until I read this to Mini-Me, but apparently this was one of my favourite books when I was around her age. I still remember doing "Hello, Jack, Hello, Jake. Shake hands, shake hands, shake, shake, shake" with my parents, so I was a little shocked to discover this is where it came from.

I think I read this about a half-dozen times in a row the first time we read it together, so I guess Mini-Me loves it too.

Trent loves this book so much, and we read it over and over, so I really should want to give it 4 or 5 stars, but.... GOSH DARN IT, THOSE AREN'T MONKEYS! THEY ARE APES! I'm sticking by my convictions and giving it only 3 stars!

My son had strep throat over the weekend and spent a lot of time in my lap. I read this five or six times in the span of two hours yesterday.

Anyway, I was previously unaware that there are Seuss flavored books that aren't actually written by Doctor Seuss. This one features a lot of monkeys and has a great rhythm when you read it out loud. Dum Ditty Dum Ditty Dum Dum Dum.

This is one of my favorite non-Dr. Seuss young children books.

For: monkey fans; readers wanting a book with rhythm.

Possible red flags: nonsense.
