From this point on, the 'Zom-B' series begins to pace towards its ending, no longer doing somewhat standalone stories as this entry ends on a fairly climactic cliffhanger, promising the main conflict of the next novel.
There are still some parts that don't work; the infectivity of the zombie plague is made out to be quite extreme (more extreme than previous novels made out) and the antagonists are introduced quite sloppily. Also, the concept of the leper effect, the ostracised and social pariahs, is a bit underdeveloped in my opinion but I like the idea. All things considered though, it's a quick, easy read.
What does work though is a really sad, unfortunate death...

"You're probably a lot better than any of us, but we're humans and you're diseased, brain-eating beasts, and that's the way it is." ~ Biddy
wow, another action packed addition to the [b:Zom-B|13380915|Zom-B (Zom-B, #1)|Darren Shan|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1334738994s/13380915.jpg|18140762] series. I liked the additional information and the insight into a thriving compound. I hadn't thought of many of the ideas it brought up but also not of some of the dangers as well.
I loved the pace and the characters and some visits from old friends. I can't wait for the next one!
