I liked this story a lot but the ending was disappointing.
I loved Vintage 's character as well as Noon's character a lot. Tor was awesome as well. I liked the unique magic system as well as the alien like nature of the Jure’lia. The world building is done really well. Hope it's explored more in the next installment.
In the last 20% of the story the plot lost it's focused momentum and with it I lost my drive to pick it back up. I don't quite know why I didn't like the end portion but to me it felt like the characters started behaving irrationally and not like themselves especially Vintage.

I couldn't stand Hest at all from the very start but especially after what she did at the end I want her to suffer. Talk about the ultimate sibling betrayal! I predicted the ultimate reveal regarding Hest's secret by the 60% mark so it robbed me of it's shocking value. Hest is dumb and too self centred to actually accept that she did wrong rather she joined the opposite force to save her skin. Seriously girl you need a reality check. Fight back don't just give up and collude with the enemy.

The Ninth Rain, a new world full of new creatures to discover. Took me a bit of time to connect to the characters as there's quite a few and they all have complex back story but by a quarter way through I was more invested. The worldbuilding is good and I feel like I have a sense of what it's like but still plenty of mystery to unwrap in the next two books. For a 400 page book it's a surprisingly long read but well worth the effort.

A complete 5 stars (this series honestly has become a favorite)
What an incredible blend of fantasy and elements of sci-fi, the characters, the storyline, the world - all of it is an intriguing blend and beautifully done.
Highly recommend this book and series!
