narration was amazing! also this book was a lot better than the first one in my opinion. you have beauty and the beast vibes, which i love and you don't have too much unnecessary drama that could have happened.
i could see lawrence having agoraphobia or really bad social anxiety, since he didn't like to go outside his study, but i loved that georgie was there to push him out of his shell!
this book was such a cute historical romance it made me smile throughout the whole thing. i will definitely be reading this one again. you could also read this as a standalone, yes you do see Jack and Oliver in here but they aren't prominent secondary characters.
Speaking of secondary characters, i am not sure if i want to read the next book, since Courtenay wasn't my favorite character in this book.

This was great! I just recently started reading gay Regency/historical romance via KJ Charles, and I loved pretty much all of her books. This one was right up there with them. Great stuff!

old cat sebastian isn't for me I fear. the characters aren't fleshed out and I don't really care for them.

Heartfelt with the right amount of fresh ideas, The Lawrence Browne Affair is a handsomely put together M/M historical romance featuring 2 damaged heroes (which I'm beginning to realize is my favorite trope). Cat Sebastian convincingly chronicles their emotional journey, from mending their self doubt, to realizing their mutual attraction.
With the novel's core DNA being very much a Beauty and the Beast retelling (a stranger stumbles into a decapitated manor with a beastly, 'mad' recluse), The Lawrence Browne Affair manages to infuse it with a few captivating flourishes: a scientist with social anxiety, a con artist with heart, and a decent suspense plot. Even the secondary characters are packed with nuances (no one is solely black or white) and surprisingly memorable despite their limited appearance.
Other than the slightly rushed closure (first time reading a historical romance where I noticeably felt the need for an epilogue), I can't really identity any other shortcoming — The Lawrence Browne Affair was a sensible delight, and I'm excited to check out more from Cat Sebastian!

Perfect, stunning, beautiful, fantastic. Currently RUNNING to buy my own copy so I can read it every day for the rest of my life.
Ps this is a queer beauty and the beast retelling and no one can convince me otherwise.

This was fun to listen to. The narrator was great and I loved the characters together. Wish there was more with Lawrence and Simon connecting but I guess I'll have to imagine that part. Overall another fun one from Cat Sebastian.

So, in real life growly bears aren’t my thing, but this one in this fic totally worked for me.
