Color me surprised that I’ve finally read a half-decent book in this series.

The intrigue is way more interesting than the previous ones and the challenge for Hunter doesn’t seem as artificial as they usually do. The switch is character dynamics, the introduction of something less formulaic and an attempt to explore the backstory and motivations of Hunter’s are doing this story a big favor.

All the usual issues remain but they are a bit more tolerable. I’m still waiting for Chris Carter to be able to process the idea of female characters not posing as decoration and actually contributing something to the story, though.

Every chapter had me in a chokehold. Completely surreal.

What can I say. Wow, Wow and Wow. Another incredible book from Mr. Carter. just when you think he's done it all he adds another twist. His books can be read as stand alones but are best read in order. So if you have not read Chris Carter grab a copy of The Crucifix Killer and welcome to the ride! Or any of his books, your choice.
