4...Another mergence of OG KR and Bones...felt like an episode in another universe...HAHA! Still no answer for Ryan? And as much as I hate to ask, what happened to Pete!? Team Ryan all the way BUT need some closure there with the divorce papers...This case, within a case, was definitely binge worthy!

This is a novella, a very short Temperance Brennan story, that unfolds in 104 pages (or 3.5 hours if you do the audio). I needed something short, sweet and intriguing and I got it.

Reichs is such a good storyteller. She builds suspense like nobody with each chapter ending in a way that MAKES you have to read "just one more chapter". Even though this was a short novella, she didn't skimp on what makes her so great.

Brennan is asked to identify a body that was found on Mt. Everest that probably belongs to a very wealthy woman's daughter. Should be simple, yes? Oh no. Brennan ends up down the rabbit hole of intense climbing feats, shady business dealings, murder and .... well, I don't want to spoil it because I was very excited when I figured out what happened.

If you like the full length Brennan books, you will like this. Just a taste to keep you going until the next one comes out.

Review Taken from The Pewter Wolf

The daughter of a powerful and wealthy family has been missed on Mount Everest for the past three years. Until the earthquake happened, no one could get to the body and bring her in to confirm it is the daughter.

And the family wants only one person to identify the body: Tempe Brennan.

Though reluctant to take the case, Tempe soon discovers that there's something wrong with the body. What if it wasn't an accident, like everything thinks?

For some unknown reason, this novella seemed meaty compared to Kathy's previous. Maybe it's me - it has been a while since I have read [b:Bones in Her Pocket|18135613|Bones in Her Pocket (Temperance Brennan, #15.5)|Kathy Reichs|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1373495841s/18135613.jpg|25476304] and [b:Swamp Bones: A Temperance Brennan Short Story|22919103|Swamp Bones A Temperance Brennan Short Story|Kathy Reichs|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1409566699s/22919103.jpg|42397638]. But this novella was very interesting. Yes, it does follow the same pattern as Kathy Reichs's previous works (this could be seen as a bad thing for some people - Tempe takes a case, get too involved and, because of this, puts herself in mortal danger), but I found the whole story of someone being frozen fascinating.

Like I said, some people might not like the pattern of the story as it follows Kathy's writing pattern. But I like this pattern. What I found a tad annoying was the ending. It felt rushed for some reason.

I did like this and I think other Kathy Reichs fans will like it, as it has a sample chapter of her latest novel, [b:Speaking in Bones|23664683|Speaking in Bones (Temperance Brennan, #18)|Kathy Reichs|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1429641712s/23664683.jpg|43272180]. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but this might be a good place to start with you want to try Kathy Reichs out.
