This novel is not plot-driven or character-driven but ideas-driven, and while I found the ideas expressed through its characters very compelling, it lacked an emotional connection to them that for me created a reading experience I'm not sure I'd say I enjoyed. I'd absolutely read something else by her though.

I really enjoyed Parts I and the second half of Part III in this book, but Part II was incredibly dull given how many interesting things were happening. Something about the writing made the story feel really inauthentic and the new  characters were equally not expanded enough but at the same time, too present.

I was really looking forward to this book, but ultimately it didn’t live up to my hopes. It was interesting, but I feel like it was attempting to be North Wood (which is my least favorite book that I’ve read in years… so this is a major negative for me). I was never able to feel connected to the characters, so I had no vested interest in how things turned out. I did enjoy the brief information that was shared about environmentalism, but that’s about all I enjoyed.
