I liked the establishment of the sisterly relationship, and while I like the redemption and atonement story line as well, what holds me back is a sense that the book is a wee bit melodramatic. Hopefully that'll tone down in future installments as it takes away from what's otherwise a compelling plot for me.

I'm enjoying the message or the series , as it hard to figure out how shoya will gain forgiveness. It nice that there's a slow burn in character development, as it feels more believable.
