Because we do not live in a large city, my daughter couldn't really relate to a lot of this story. (Our garbage is collected during the day and goes to a landfill, not compacted and put on a barge.) The story was cute, though!

As a green parent, I found myself saying, "That doesn't belong in the trash!" It's cute enough, though, to ignore any environmental misgivings I might have.

I'm keeping track of picture books that would make for good read-alouds in addition to longer chapter books. I think the appeal of this book is it's amusing and teaches children about the alphabet.

Fabulous read aloud - the kids adore the disgusting alphabet (apple cores, banana peels...ugly underwear!)

Great book for toddlers. My two year old loves reading this book. The words are visually interesting with changing fonts. The pictures are fun and it works on teaching the alphabet. The truck makes lots of noises, and my son likes to help me make them (makes it more fun for me).
