I borrowed this book for free from Amazon from the sci-fi anthology category. Calling it sci-fi is valid, but it's not particularly tech or science heavy. It does a good job at its blurb, which is a shared story written by a collection of authors, although its ending leaves a bit to be desired.

Excellent book. Short stories by different authors yet all in the same universe telling a coherent and compelling story. I had thought it was going to be sci-fi because of the Hadron Collider element, but it's actually horror/monster/apocalypse genre and an excellent example of it. Suspense and tension build up steadily. The short story format means that action flows steadily; there are no dragging bits and I was always interested to find out the next bit of the story. The short stories also provide great opportunity for expansive world-building. I thoroughly recommend this book; if I could give it more stars I would.
