Okay this was my first ever graphic novel reading experience and oh my gosh, I loved it and this book! I like desperately want more now. 😭 I absolutely loved the art style, the characters, the story, just everything!

This work feels like a web comic (which it apparently is) in that the story arc feels unfinished and unintentionally elusive. In a longer form work like a webcomic that feels normal, but I guess I expect more cohesion from bound materials. That said this world is super promising and the art is gorgeous! I'll be keeping an eye on the webcomic for sure!

I'm so delighted that M. F. K. has made its way from web to print so I can reread and add it here! Plus the edition is gorgeously made: rich colors, heavy paper, a nice big trim size. I love the lush art of this comic, and I'm so glad that the print edition does it justice.

Librarians, heads-up - we've got a cliffhanger at the end of book one. Chapter Four (which picks up where this leaves off) is still online at http://www.mfkcomic.com/, but the story as a whole is on hiatus for a little while. It'll be back eventually, though!

I read the description on the back cover after I read the book, and there was a lot of the plot that I didn’t get while reading. The fight scenes were also hard to follow, and I’m left with a lot of questions (like what does the title even stand for?). I’m not sure if there is supposed to be a sequel, but it would help clarify a lot of things, like world-building and character development.

Mysterious and a bit difficult. The artwork is beautiful. There are some cartoon – style elements: humorously distorted mouths, exaggerated facial expressions, and a habit on the part of a couple of the characters to indulge in slapstick violence (like throwing a pan at your patient’s face, or clonking your inattentive grandson on the noggin.)

I’d like to see where the story goes next.

This was okay. Nothing ground breaking, but kept my interest through out.

The author got across a lot of worldbuilding very quickly in this volume. I really enjoyed the art design and the pacing was excellent. Eager to read Volume 2 when it’s available!
