Sad to see the series come to an end, but what a joy it's been to live in this world. I will say I had a mini hearted attack toward the end but it was a great end to the story. There was so much action, heart ach, and deception it this book. With trying to figure out what her father's plan was, was like trying to get through a maze. Tyrrik was great the love he has for Ryn is the love that everyone one should have.

3.75 - I really enjoyed Black Crown and overall the entirety of The Darkest Drae series. It was great to see the growth of Ryn and Tyrrik is simply a gem. Lol. I wish the ending had been not as rushed, the motivation, backstory of Draedyn less convoluted and fleshed out and just more of the other groups, side characters and just more. It was a fun read otherwise and I will definitely read more of both authors.

A Few Favorite Lines/Quotes...

****
Tyrrik chuckled, a low sound that rumbled in his chest and bounced around in my head before settling in the deep cavity underneath the left side of my ribs, which I strongly suspected was my heart. Or possibly a terminal disease.

****
Lani smiled. “I drank a whole jug of honey syrup one time—”
Huh. I wondered if that was a Phaetyn thing.
"Good relationships take effort to keep them healthy, and sex is a natural part of a mate-bond.”

****
Heat crept into my cheeks. “I knew that.” Kind of.
She studied me and nodded. “Good. Relationships take effort and time, and if you value the relationship, you’ll give him both. You’ll both change over time. That’s just life, so make sure you’re investing in your relationship so that distance doesn’t grow between you. Because make no mistake, though you are mates and cannot bear to be physically apart, you can still grow distant in other ways.”

"...If anyone asks, we knew it the entire time."

****
'...You defeated the one-eyed squirrel as I slept? I quipped.
Tyrrik’s joy at my humor radiated through our bond. No, he said solemnly. He still runs rampant, leading a life of debauchery. Worse, he’s inspiring others to join his band of nefarious villainy.'

Wonderful Series

I fell in love with these books from the very beginning. I read this one in a single sitting, there was that much going on! I just couldn’t put it down. What a wonderful and thrilling ending!

I generally enjoy reading this final book, although I have a bit of a problem with the pace and the shitty cover. It feels okay on the early chapters but then it fell rather flat. Too much battle strategy session and sexual innuendos, it was almost boring. Not to mention the 'name logic' which the author tried to explain in the late chapters which actually felt unnecessary and even confusing. But, thankfully, those 'bad parts' was only for a small part of the story and when it finally picked up its paced, it became a lot easier to read.

Turns out, this was a pretty good book overall. The world building was still great. I could still finish reading it till the last chapter and felt sad when it was done. I will certainly miss the sassy Ryn and the tall-dark-and-handsome Tyrrik. They mostly made a perfect couple. A power couple I would even say. Last but least, I cannot say that this final book is my favorite of the three, but I certainly enjoy this series as a whole.

This has been a fun, charming series filled with plenty of heart-warming moments. While I would have loved to have spent more time getting to know the villain, the series ended on a high note and lifted my spirits when I needed it to.

The primary focus of this book was the romance between Ryn and Tyrrick. They had some sweet and passionate moments that made for fun reading. At times it moved a little slowly, but that was mainly to introduce some new characters. There were a couple twists and interesting reveals that I would have loved to have seen more of, but the story kept to its main plot line.

Ryn managed to keep her soul intact, and Tyrrick remained quite hot. Their bond focused on equality, the need for one another and the desire to protect each other at all costs.

For the most part, I just allowed myself to have fun with these books. They got a little goofy at times, but they made me smile, and were a story I didn’t know I needed until I began.

This book was by far, the better of the three it definitely had a few annoyances. But not enough to make me give up on the story. Love the world building, was definitely one edge at the end. Over all would re-read. An I know I haven’t said it in any of the reviews! But I love Tyrrik!
