I was going into this book thinking there was going to be a lot of f/f relations with some history thrown in. When in actuality it was the other way around. I enjoyed this book tremendously! This book takes on a journey through the National Woman’s Party of 1919 when they were fighting for women’s rights to vote. You meet Elizabeth “Lizzie” Johnson who is from a small town in Kansas. She is silently rebelling against her father by reading articles about the fights women are putting up against the government and citizens that don’t won’t them to have the right to vote. Her father is such a jerk I really wanted to punch him within the first two sentences! I understand that’s how things were back in the day and I am so glad that we have come out of that time period. I won’t say anymore other than this story follows the journey of young Lizzie as she embarks to find herself and her place in life. Don’t let the thought of female/female get to you it doesn’t last long and isn’t a huge part of the story. It’s the historical significance of this book that you should take with you and enjoy. I Loved this book and would give it a 5 out of 5. Happy reading!
