Second read: I still really enjoyed this story but something wasn’t letting me be as captivated by it as I had hoped. This story is beautifully written.
First read: Another great read. I was captivated by this story I read it in one day (between doing other things) because I couldn’t wait to find out what would happen. I also plan to read the remaining books in this series, hopefully it will be about the other 2 brothers finding love. This book was well written and I enjoyed every second of it.

It’s kinda a second chance story. The 2 characters have a past. She has a crush on him but he doesn’t know it. She’s just a little bit hung up on her looks and doesn’t believe she’s worthy of him. A misunderstanding is ensued and there’s a bit of drama involved but otherwise I enjoyed the story overall.

This book was ok. I listened to the audio version. I felt bad for Maddie and her teenage insecurities. I was going to say kids can be so cruel, but so can adults.
The thing that irritated me about Maddie was that after 9 years and knowing how her insecurities still plagued her, she never tried to get help.
I didn't like the best friend's wife. Even when she supposedly was being friendly, she wasn't. At least not until the very end.
I don't understand why no ok he wanted to tell Mauro what happened in high school. That just seemed ridiculous to me. Especially knowing that at least one brother knew what happened.
I like Mauro and Maddie together when she was feeling comfortable, or even angry. I also liked that she was a intelligent and excelled at her chosen trade.
One of her best friends was out of control, completely irritating, and seemingly unable to control herself, and the other, Vanessa, was secretive.
This was an ok read with a few humorous moments. The narration did nothing for the story. The female narrator sounded whiny and the male narrator was just a man reading the words in a book. I did like that this book was based in Chicago, where I live, and my favorite fast food place Portillo's was mentioned a couple of times.

Doch es kommt immer anders als man denkt und am Ende wird ihr Highschoolschwarm zu ihrem Geschäftspartner - mit ungeahnten Folgen...

Ich finde die Cover zu der neuen Reihe von Piper Rayne wieder richtig gelungen und sie passen auch super zu einander.
"Flirting with Fire" ist der erste Band der "Saving Chicago" Trilogie von Piper Rayne. In jedem Band geht es um eine von drei Freundinnen und einen der drei Bianco Brüder.
Man kann alle drei Bände einzeln lesen, aber ich würde dennoch empfehlen, die Reihe komplett zu lesen. Die Hauptcharaktere wechseln zwar, aber die Bücher bauen doch aufeinander auf.
In diesem Band geht es um Maddie und ihren Highschoolschwarm Mauro.
Der Roman ist in der ersten Person aus der Sicht von Maddie und Mauro geschrieben.
Ich liebe die Romane von Piper Rayne. Sie haben einen wundervollen flüssigen und leichten Schreibstil, der immer eine Prise Humor und sexyness mitbringt. Es sind perfekte Romane für Zwischendurch.
Maddie leidet immer noch unter ihrer Unsicherheit aus Highschoolzeiten als sie noch "Fatty Maddie" genannt wurde. Ihr Selbstbewusstsein bekommt immer besonders dann einen Knacks, wenn es um Mauro Bianco geht. Er ist ihr Highschoolschwarm, doch damals war sie unsichtbar für ihn.
Heute ist er Feuerwehrmann und ihre Freundinnen haben für Maddie ein Date mit ihm ersteigert.
Nach dem Katastrophalen Ende des Dates hofft sie, dass sie ihn nie wiedersehen muss. Doch das Schicksal hat andere Pläne.
Als Mauro die junge Frau - welche ihn ersteigert hat - das erste Mal sieht, ist er ganz begeistert. Doch das gemeinsame Date läuft anders als erwartet. Trotzdem hofft er sie wieder zu sehen.
Als er sie auf einer Immobilienversteigerung widertrifft freut er sich riesig, bis zu dem Zeitpunkt als Maddie auf das Haus bietet, welches er ebenfalls ins Auge gefasst hat.
Doch so schnell gibt er nicht auf und macht ihr den Vorschlag, dass sie das Haus doch gemeinsam auf Vordermann bringen könnten.
Fazit:
Heißer Lesestoff für kalte Tage.
"Flirting with Fire" hat sich ganz lockerleicht und schnell lesen lassen. Es war zwar an manchen Stellen etwas vorhersehbar, aber es hat genauso auch Überraschungen parat.
"Flirting with Fire" ist perfekt für leichte Lesestunden zwischendurch mit Witz, Charm und Sexyness.

A previously nerdy FMC had a kiss from her high school crush 10 years ago. He doesn’t remember it though. At a charity auction, she wins a date with the now fireman, Mauro. After a terrible date, the two meet again at a home sale. They agree to work together to flip the home. Mauro falls for Maddie but some complications keep getting in the way. I really didn’t like his deceased friend’s wife, like at all lol.
Mauro is good at the grovel and making grand gestures. He made Maddie feel beautiful and knew what he wanted. A few open door steamy scenes. Overall, a pretty good romance!
