Is there anyone left on this earth who hasn't read this? What a beautiful classic!

When Max, after making mischief, has been banished to his room, he thinks up his own world of wild things...but quickly realizes that home is the best place to be.

An absolute classic. Delightful for children, and parents/grown-ups can appreciate the subtle artistry and techniques of Maurice Sendak.

Read this to a class the other day and only them realised I had not read it as a kid. Love the illustrations but trying to think how I would have enjoyed it as a kid? Hmm, not sure it would have been one of my favourites. Dreamy landscapes I loved but I wasn't much for monsters.

how dare you do this to me, an immigrant with an unhealthy obsession with intertextuality (and this book was mentioned in one of my other favourite books)

A classic, but I think there are better children's books out there.
