This collection asks the question, if the apricot trees of Soweto could talk, what stories would they tell? And I've come away from this book thinking, I guess they would tell depressing stories. Bleak vignettes with very little hope or silver linings. Beautiful cover, but I'm bummed out by its contents.

What stories would the apricot trees in Soweto tell if they could talk? This is a collection of satirical short stories about witches, zamazamas, politics and so much more. I didn't like the writing and how women were described in some of the short stories, reading this book became even more irritating. "Turbulence" saved the entire book for me.
