Definitely a good self-reflection type of book to understand what things I'm doing that are impacting my ability to make strong friendships. Probably worth an occasional re-read.

Loved this book so much. There were plenty of aha moments for me since I tend to be insecurely attached in a lot of relationships. Loved her writing style and the personal stories that illustrated her points.

My key takeaway from this book is that how you relate to others is really a reflection of who you are yourself. And if that isn’t enough to make you really examine your friendships to consequently examine yourself - I’m not sure what will.
I think everyone would benefit from reading this book, whether it’s to see how you’ve grown from previous bad behaviors that prevent you from cultivating friendships or to see how you can become a better friend. It’s a book that turns out to be almost self-help-y, but in a way that i think is optimistic, positive, and actionable - with impacts that we can all immediately benefit from. I am convinced from reading this that the way to be a good person is to show that you can be a good friend.
This book is accessible, digestible, and I think a worthwhile read to all adults at some point in their lives (especially if you feel socially awkward and feel a little anxious - like me!). Nothing in this book is revelatory, per se, but there is something to be said in having it all laid out in one read. It's a good reminder of just how important our friendships are, and how we shouldn't take them for granted. I also believe any book that centers and elevates our platonic friendships is certainly one worth reading - they’re just as important if not moreso than most other relationships in our lives.

I won a Goodreads Giveaway for this book.
I tried, I really tried. I want to love this book, but it just annoyed me so much I had to dnf. It's very academic, but with examples that feel ridiculous. It's also l o n g. I think I might've liked it and finished it if it had been cut by half, and could've been.

I want every person who feels like they don’t have a “village” to read this book. It’s a wonderful summary of why and how to create lasting friendships or strengthen existing ones. Thoroughly researched, very informative, and balanced with real-world examples.
