I learned a lot about friendship through this book, the most important lesson being how self-confidence can help to make and sustain friendships. Particularly at this time in my life when friends are no longer drawn from common life experience, it is helpful to have this science in my mind to encourage me to seek new connections. I enjoyed learning about components of strong friendship, particularly authenticity and affection given these are areas that I struggle with most. Only got 4 stars because not all of the stories/writing resonated with me.
To anyone else on their “friend journey,” I highly highly recommend this book.

I listened to this as an audiobook. It took me awhile to get through, but overall it's good. Lots of research mixed with storytelling. It looks at the science of friendship, which is something different (to me).
