I just couldn't get into this - and then I remembered that although I liked the first book, I much preferred "The Adoration of Jenna Fox"

The second in a series, and still really good. I have trouble putting these books down. There's an interesting balance of plot and introspection that feels a bit unsettling, but it works really well with the book. I want to read more.

This book just kind of dragged on for me. There was a lot of talk, and a lot of pages, but not a lot of actual things happening.
It has been six months since Lia became a 'skinner,' or, as she and her friends like to call themselves, 'Mechs'. Lia decided to finally embrace what she is and give up on her human life. However, the rest of the world is not ready to accept the mechs, and religious fantatics are growing in strength as the government legislature must fully decide whether or not the replicated people are actually people.
The debate becomes more heated when there is an attack on a corporation owned town, and Lia's face is captured on video declaring war against the humans. More and more people and fearing and hating the mechs, and are trying to take away all of their rights.
It sounded like it could have been a good book, but everything gets a bit tedious when you hear it over and over again. For instance, Lia is betrayed by people who she once cared about. Ok, I saw it coming, and I get that she is upset, but it keeps talking about it. Also, the whole sexual tension thing with Jude and Lia, and her constantly saying that all of the others are mindless followers, but no, she isn't following, she just happens to want to do what he's telling her, it gets really old.
Overall, it was just kind of meh.

Another great installment in this story. I love Riley and Lia together - I think they complement each other really well. However, i did almost wish that Riley's back story had been a little more extreme; the set-up and suspense that came with waiting for him to tell his story was a lot for just the one thing. I still hate Jude. i think he's mislead, narrow-minded, and small. Maybe the third book will make me love him. However, I might have a litter of kittens if he ends up with Lia, because I secretly think that he wants her. I have the third book already, and I think I'm going to start it tonight. Excited!

And this one is called Shattered instead of Crashed...

The continuing story of Lia Kahn whose mind was downloaded into a mechanical body when she died in a car crash. Lia has escaped from living with her family, who don't seem to know how to react to her anymore, to live a number of other mechs. They fight for their rights despite strong opposition from humans.

I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into when I picked up this book, but I now know that it was one helluva good time.

I read the first book, SKINNED, and was left with lingering thoughts of Lia, Jude, and Auden for days on end. But then, as time went on and I read other really great books, I forgot about SKINNED and the world Robin Wasserman so skillfully brought to life. I forgot about how anxious I'd been to read CRASHED, but once I started, from the very page, from the very first sentence, I was reminded. And this time I won't forget. CRASHED is probably one of the best books I've ever read...It'd definitely make the top fifty. That's saying something...I've read a lot a books and I don't usually dole out praise for just any book, written in just any kind of way. Anyway, this is a must read. So read it.

I didn't read the first book and had a hard time getting into this one. I didn't really connect with the characters and didn't care much about what happened to them. Maybe it would have been different if I had read Skinned.
