It has been years since I read the first 7 books in this series, so there was a bit of a disconnect for me, but the book does stand on its own. I honestly remember very little of the first 7 books, even with the references to them in this new novel. Lots of sex in a semi-interesting plot with typical Piers Anthony characters. I have to admit, I'm hoping this really is the end of the series.

My last book for 2011 - by a favorite author. I've read almost all of Anthony's stories. His Incarnations of Immortality was one of my favorite series. Unfortunately, this last book in the series didn't live up to the previous ones. While I enjoyed the read, I didn't think it as good as the other ones. It was, at times, confusing as I tried to keep straight who was who and in which timeline.

Still, if you're willing to overlook the occasional confusion, and if you're already a fan of Piers Anthony, this is a quick tie up to everything that went before.

It seems that more and more the story of the Incarnations is the story of human nature--more specifically of our carnal nature. I feel there was a dramatic increase in sexual relations between the story of Thanatos...and this of Nox. Not sure if this planned at the start of the series, or if that is simply where Anthony's mind wandered.

That aside, it was a fun read, but not as essential as the others. This is the story of Nox, but in an alternate timeline...we can see how she was created and what her motives are.

I read the incarnation series in middle school and I remember the series fondly. The series gave me fresh concepts to think about with religion and morality. Unfortunately, this felt sloppy. I still paid the $50 to obtain a copy, which in itself was disappointing. I will always praise this series. However, I would stop at #7.

From this entire series, this last book seemed to me to be a kind of tack on. Don't get me wrong, it's still worth a read but this was my least favorite...

I have to say that this is perhaps the worst Piers Anthony book I have ever read (and I have read 50+ of them). This book seems to be based on sex. Nothing of interest is brought up until the very last part of the book. I honestly feel that this is an extremely unnecessary addition to the series, which I think was summed up perfectly at the end of book 7. It pains me to have to say this because I have been such an avid fan of Anthony for such a long time. I did, however, enjoy that this book is self-published by Anthony under "Mundania Press". Yay for Xanth references!

I'd been so excited to hear that this had been published, but it would take me years before I could actually get my hands on a copy. After reading it, I wish I hadn't been able to access a copy! This book is a 1.5 star read for me, but due to Goodreads not being able to do half stars, I'm forced to round up, purely for nostalgia's sake.

It's a much shorter book than the previous ones, and the characterization, plot, and content all seem to suffer for it, as they come across as much weaker than other books in the series, especially since the plot was tied to the Arthur myth, as if it couldn't stand on its own. I'm no prude, but the sexual content is bizarrely out of place and excessive, since it's not even well written sex scenes. Piers Anthony tells us in the author's note that much of the book was based on the notes of a fan who spent time reading through all of the previous seven books in this series in order to pin down connections and possible dates that events took place, as well as a 3 page summary written by another fan of the series. Well, the book reads kind of like both of those have been smashed together and fleshed out a bit. It seems that the point of the book is just to tie up a bunch of loose ends, and the independent story of this novel is pretty unsatisfying and largely confusing, especially since there were some typos that jarred me out of the story. It's like what I read wasn't a story, but more of a history timeline for the Incarnations series set in an alternate universe.

If you're a fan of the Incarnations series, skip it. I wouldn't even recommend it to a non-fan!

I guess you should get/read this from a completeist point of view. It's admitted fan service, and unfortunately reads like mediocre fan fic. Plot is a stretch, even for the Incarnation universe.

I rate it "Meh."
