Blacklist was much more enjoyable and exciting to read then the first book, everything I wanted but didn't get from the first one comes in a big portion in this.

I liked the idea of the premise of the story but not the execution. It’s like an adult version of Pretty Little Liars except a movie star goes missing instead of Ally. But the story isn’t as well developed as the first 9 books of PLL.

Initial thoughts: Cliffhanger, much? I have so many theories about what is gonna happen next. This book isn't as exciting as the first book, but more things happen. I don't know, my view of the characters really changed with this one. Priya is mysterious, but I'm sure she's gonna play a significant part sooner or later.

In the second book of the dramatic Beautiful Idols series, the stakes are raised --- will these young stars rise or plummet to the ground? Layla Harrison's blog is losing subscribers as she refuses to broach the topic of Aster. Tommy's blissful life is only getting better but he can't forget Layla... Aster must find out who is framing her before it's too late, and Madison? She may not even be alive.
Blacklist definitely has a better plot, but it just isn't as explosive as Beautiful Idols. Yes, things have "gotten more intense", however it takes awhile for anything of interest to happen. The relationships between the characters certainly shift heaps, we see frustration, love, and support, bonds are made and broken more than once.
Madison is a hot topic in this book, so much of what is hinted at in Beautiful Idols is revealed, specifically information about her. Each character is haunted by different things; Tommy's career is at a stand still, Layla must respond to anonymous threats or be dealt with, and Aster is daunted by the threat of jail for a crime she didn't commit. We see more of Ryan too, and he has changed a lot from his first appearance in the series.
This book answers many questions, but perhaps there aren't enough questions asked to keep the book flowing as the same few questions pop up all the way through the book. Is Madison dead, is Aster going to get out of jail, who is Madison really? Nonetheless, I thoroughly enjoyed reading Blacklist and I think it's done a brilliant job of setting up book three, which is sure to be explosive considering the amount of ammunition Blacklist has generated and not used.

Found this one by chance at the Dollar Store, so I had no idea it was the second in a series. However, I feel like this could be read as a stand alone. You aren't lost reading it. The right information is there so make sure you haven't missed anything. What I really liked is that is wasn't focused on romance, but it had all the ingredients to have that element. After finishing it was when I learned it was the 2nd in a trio. And although I didn't read the first, I knew I needed to read the next one!

Beautiful Idols #2
Told you I'd have to dive into the sequel soon (and I just learned it's a trilogy, so that will have to happen).
This books picks up where Unrivaled left off and gives you more of the mystery. By the end of the book the characters are more developed and closer together but not closer to the answer. I don't have the most popular opinion here, you can read other reviews to see what I mean, but I think this was actually better than the first book. The characters felt more real this time around, they're coming into themselves and I like that. The side story with Mateo I could've done without, but that may be important in the conclusion book, I'm not sure yet.
I will read the third one and I give this one four stars.
