I didn't realize there was another in this series before this one.  I don't know that I needed to read it in order, but it might have helped with understanding and following the world-building, which was complex and the reader is just dropped into.  Also, I didn't realize this dealt with themes of illegal drug use, which I tend to try to avoid.

I'm not going to lie, this book is written as if it's a fanfic. Specifically, a fanfic that was initially a mock/joke/taking the piss kinda fic that somehow reads seriously at times such as fics written by the user, winterpillowtalk. For example, phrases like "occasionally rolling from side to side like a sausage being cooked", when referring to Delly tossing and turning.

The "commoners" accent is so difficult to understand that it makes it offputting to read, and I was so close to DNFing, but the accent eventually drops off because Delly has to work with the more cultured ladies.

This book isn't that serious and I think it's fine, although I did end up skimming over most of it when I read the last 50% because not much was going on. The ending felt rushed.
I will promptly be donating this book to a charity shop, and I don't wish to read the first book either.

Edit: I left the book at Snoozebox near the Abba Arena in London.
