This was such a fun read! I love the steampunk vibe. I love Wayne so much and his banter with Wax is everything . Very siblings as Marasi points out. I loved the fact that her crush on Wax was just that, a crush, and it didn't end up anywhere. That 20 years age difference would have made things so icky I burst out laughing when they read out High Imperial aloud xD also Harmony ❤️

It’s exhilarating… It’s hilarious… It’s a departure from what we’ve seen before… BUT IT ROCKS!!! I’m not saying Sanderson never misses, but he really doesn’t. While the first novel of Mistborn Era 2 feels much like a light as a feather romp around the future of Scadrial that ultimately sets up three more books. It does so with grace and heart, giving us solid characters that I am already attached to and more depth to a world that I already thought was filled to the max with lore among other attributes. I think the only hindrance to its story is the BrandoSando staple, the “100 page Sanderlanche.” Long story short, at the end of every Sanderson book, he really likes to write everything pretty quickly and end the novel FAST. Now, I’m not saying this is a bad thing by any means, but in the Alloy of Law it shows very evidently. For some this could be a glaring problem, but for others it can be just the usual same old same old that we expect. Was this novel as strong. As Mistborn 1? No. Was it as strong as WoK’s? Not even close. But was it a fun ride that I would love to come back to again someday? Absolutely!!

I’ll admit I liked this more than era 1: the stakes are a bit lower and the world far less depressing, yet the magic just as interesting. There’s humour to this and the characters and their relationships were fun to follow.

Solid start to the new Mistborn Era. I really enjoy the concept of continuing a story in the same world, but moved forward in time, with new technology and culture to play with. This story was much smaller than I remember it being, but it does introduce the main elements of conflict moving toward the next books in the series. The characters are fun, and I really enjoy the way Sanderson played with the action scenes and new allomantic powers. A fun romp.
