I like this approach (narrative essay style) quite a bit. Bringing personality into reference books can be tricky, but I tend to enjoy it (as long as I relate to the personality type - if not, it's a major bummer). I also wonder if Mikics perhaps should have asked for help - he clearly knows a lot, but no one can be an expert on everything. Some of the entries seemed weak (and possibly somewhat inaccurate) - these could have been strengthened by contributions from other scholars (akin to what Abrams and Kennedy did). Those looking for outright definitions will likely not want to refer to this handbook, as most of the entries are more conversational - but if you're thinking of doing research on a topic and want a place to start asking questions or responding to another approach, this could be a good book to begin with.
