Great art, quick paced adventure, and characters who have a humanity not normally seen in a comic. Would recommend to middle graders looking for a comic with a little more depth.

3.5. As a graphic novel, I really really enjoyed it. As a graphic novel for kids, I'm not as sure. It was definitely more grown-up humor, not in an inappropriate way, just in a kids might not think it's that funny kind of way.

My daughter has been wanting me to read this forever now. It was beautifully illustrated and had a wonderful theme.

I love Craig Thompson's body of work and I love that he wrote and drew a GN for younger readers. The galaxies are rich and the characters are wacky; it's a cool dive into a Star Wars + Adventure Time kind of thing. I had to skim it though, because the depth of the art just was not for me.

This was a cute and silly story. Definitely for kids or tweens. The plot moved along quickly and there was an abundance of actions and laughs. Best of all, for me, is that the book had real heart. I enjoyed it.
