It’s a book of different mythologies. It was a fun read.

Beautiful rework of old stories with rich language that made it new. One of the best myths books I have ever read.

I read this book one story at a time to my third grade students, and they loved the myths. Most of them had been exposed to Greco-Roman myths, and we had covered a little bit of Norse mythology, so they loved that this book covered myths from all seven continents, including a lot they hadn’t heard before. The illustrations are also beautiful, and helped to illuminate the narratives.

This is a beautiful book, the illustrations are absolutely stunning. There's a decent selection of myths and legends with some from every continent.

The stories were interesting and many of them were new to me. I do suspect that many of them have been sterilised a bit to make them less dark or characters more likeable, certainly that was true of one of the stories I recognised. It is written for children so it's understandable, though I do believe kids can handle more than they're sometimes given credit for.

The writing was competent rather than great, but I enjoyed reading it, and the illustrations alone are easily worth the price of the book.
