This book is horrible for young readers! It teaches bad grammar and pronouncation habits! I used to love it when I was younger, but as an ESL teacher now, I dislike it very much!
I went and sat in the kids section and decided I was going to read the Junie B. Jones series. It's a fun, little quick read. It's about Junie's first day at kindergarten and she absolutely does not like the school bus. So, what she does to avoid the bus causes quite an uproar. Definitely going to read the next one.
I read this book with my niece and man it brought back memories!!
Not exactly what I should've read to a 3 & 4 year old. It needed commentary from mommy throughout that this is not how little girls should act. May need to hide
the other paperbacks until they're a bit older.

funny
lighthearted
As always, Junie B. was so fun to hang out with. Her bluntness is charming and her stubbornness amusing.
Junie B. Jones is and will forever be that bitch. I love her
Oh my gosh, that was adorable. While it doesn't set up Junie B as a good example for other kids, it was still super fun to hear her in this quick story.
1.5/5
I had so many friends growing up who loved this series. I didn't as a kid, and after reading it again as an adult, I realized why:
Junie B. Jones was not an endearing or funny character. Instead, I found her to be extremely annoying with poor manners and a terrible attitude. She has a general lack of social awareness and doesn't seem to understand the consequences of her actions.

Part of a personal challenge to read all of my boyfriend's and his sister's childhood books before we donate and give them away.

Junie B. Jones is basically the written, female version of Horrid Henry, both of which my daughter (age 6) finds very amusing. We have even laughed together at how audacious and awful this little girl is. She name calls and is, in general, a real brat. I certainly wouldn't recommend it for all kids and it's definitely a series where there needs to be open discussion over proper behavior and etiquette. But overall it's a simple, fun series for kids that are old enough to understand the distinction between humor and proper behavior.
