This song was beautiful. Names should always be songs and children should NEVER have to be ashamed of the name they were given. All people need to learn how to say people's names no matter how difficult they may sound.

A great book on learning and sharing names.
A lengthier picture book that would be great for elementary classes.

Reviewed from a library copy.

A lovely book with beautiful illustrations, celebrating all kinds of names and their musicality. My only qualm is that it lets the teacher off the hook for not trying to pronounce the girl’s name and for not putting a stop to the other kids bullying and ostracizing the girl. Instead, it puts the onus on the girl, who is a kindergartner. That being said, it is a beautiful book that promotes self-esteem for marginalized kids and pride in their names.

I love how ALL names (including Ms. Anderson and Benjamin) are provided pronunciation guides in the book.
Great book for the beginning of school.

This is a beautiful story about how one girl is disappointed with school because no one can say her name. I like how the author included a variety of names with pronunciations. The pictures are lovely and go well with the text.

A book for all those who have had their names ridiculed or mispronounced.
