This novel follows the love story between Tanner and Sebastian. Tanner is a bisexual teenage boy who is out to his family but his family doesn’t want to be out in their heavily Mormon community. Sebastian is the son of the bishop of the community. And you can only imagine what happens from there.

This book was definitely worth the hype! It lived up to all the expectations I put up for it in my head. Tanner is my favorite character in this novel. I love how honest and truthful he is to his friends, family and to Sebastian. I also really loved the relationship he had with his family and how supportive they were of him. You don’t really get that a lo in LGBTQ+ fiction novels but in this one it was really beautiful and refreshing to see. Sebastian I also really liked because he felt realistic and seeing him come to terms with his sexuality and stand by that revelation was amazing to read. Overall a full 5/5 stars for me.

I realized yesterday that I've gotten into a bit of a groove of reading books about sad gay teenagers these last few weeks and, other than They Both Die At the End by Adam Silvera, this one has to be my favorite.

Upon beginning this book, I realized I've never read a book that takes place in modern Utah like this before and I've certainly never read anything that focuses on a subject that I've struggled with my entire life: having a relationship (romantic or platonic) with people who are a part of the Mormon church. Other than Tanner being a transplant, a lot of his dealings with the church are true to my own and it was really interesting seeing that reflected in fiction.

It was very sweet, very heart-wrenching, and literally hit close to home. I absolutely adored it.

Loved it! But I think Christina Lauren work better with New Adult than YA.
However, I really liked this book. Super enjoyable. Lovely characters. I really connected with Tanner.
We get to see two opposite words which are the religious word, in this case Mormons, and the LGBT+ community mixing together and at first I thought it could be very dangerous and many people could feel offended BUT I think Christina and Lauren did a really good work treating both topics with respect.
It is a really hopeful and beautiful book.
The only bad thing is that since I am a LGBT+ supporter every time a Mormon said something homophobic or disrespectful toward or about a lgbt+ character I got really mad and it made it hard to keep reading because I honestly will never understand their reasons to believe queer love is less or worse than heterosexual love.

ANYWAY, it is a really good book and you should read it!!
