So, I got behind on comics for a while, then desperately tried to catch up, then had Comic Con interrupt it.

2014 Comic Con, that is.

So, I finished issues 28 and 29 a year after I had read the previous issues.

That said, I think this was my second favorite arc after the first one. Rafa is an outstanding artist, of course, but the Red mythology and Brother Blood was out in force here, and I love that.

The final issue didn't really hit me the way it was probably supposed to (could be due to not reading the series for a while, but the beats could have been a bit stronger, in my opinion), but I loved that Jeff Lemire was able to illustrate in his best way. And that Travel Foreman came back, I quite enjoyed his work on the first arc.

Goodbye, Animal Man. I hope to see you in another book again soon.

That was a pretty cute, in the end. Just a bit too many "sudden twists" for this to work for me as a read-all-at-once experience. You can really tell these were individual issues that came out separately and then got smushed together.
