A day-by-day account from November 17, 1932 to January 30, 1933 of the political scene in Berlin, this could have been extremely dry, and yet, it's absolutely riveting. The writing and translation are fantastic, and offer amazing insight into an important moment in history.

A look into the cold winter months before the murder of Germany's first democracy and the emergence of one of the most evil rulers in human history. Odd book in that in lieu of a structured narrative, the chapters consist more of short articles of events that could fit in one's local newspaper if you were in Berlin at the time.
