I am such a fan of Elinor Lipman. Just like her novels, these essays are witty and charming. I listened to the audio book and Ms. Lipman narrates it herself. I loved hearing her voice! The essay on the end of "Sex and the City" was spot-on, if you're a fan of the show, and her essays about her husband and son are alternately funny and bittersweet. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

I really enjoyed this book of essays. Now I want to read her fiction.

Listened to this as an audiobook, read by the author. Normally I don't like it when authors narrate their own books (exception: Neil Gaiman), but Lipman does just fine as a non-professional. I liked the essays about the writing process and life as an author (there's a particularly good one about the pressure to blurb books). Her essay about the death of her husband was also very moving. I must say, however, that I vastly prefer her fiction.

Short and lovely essays about life. The ones that touched me the most were about her husband and son.

A collection of essays by the genteel author, about her marriage, her son--she just seems like a lovely lady. And I'm probably the only person who has ever checked out Adam Carolla and Elinor Lipman at the same time.

Not having read any of her books, but now am wanting to hunt them down and read them. Found these essays charming, easy to read, and compelling. This is not a heavy read, but is obviously a deeply personal write on the author’s part. She is sharp, funny, and insightful. I found myself relating to her on a personal level, shedding a tear, and chuckling out loud. I would put that as a successful read....
