Wonderful collection of stories; just as you're wanting them to keep going they end. Sign of a really good shirt story. But they never leave you in the lurch! Perfect pre bedtime reading. Very atmospheric and relaxing.

Instead of The Blue Bedroom and Other Stories, this should have been called How Many Childbirth Scenes Can You Include? Out of 13 stories, 5 of them feature a baby being born. (And one with lamb being born.) When I got to 5th story with another pregnant woman whose baby was coming early, I couldn't take it anymore and skipped to next story.

Apparently this was Rosamunde Pilcher's first Collection of short stories. Her big books, September, The Shell Seekers, came later. 3 stars for the overall reduncy. Also she clearly reused ideas. 'An Evening To Remember' has someone showing up for dinner party on the wrong day. This happened in September as well.

However there were some standouts.
Gilbert was great blended family coming together and it literally had a 🤣 moment.

The Before Christmas Present was a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ read. I loved it's older woman coming into her own.

Not her best (by far -- almost all the plots are a bit contrived), but still feel-good stories.

Not great literature, but wonderful vacation reading.
