Title: Balance
Author: Nik Wallenda
Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4.25
GENRE: Cristian, memoir, nonfiction

📚SUMMARY & THOUGHTS📚

Nik Wallenda begins with his family history dominating the world of aerial performers, circus workers and entertainers over the last several centuries and then begins to focus on his own experience continuing the tradition. As a Christian he writes candidly about his faith in Jesus and passion to continue in his family business. He recounts his struggles both professionally and personally. Innovation in a dying industry, ego that benefits his career and yet damages his marriage, and many other ups and downs are recounted while clearly showing how his faith and study of scripture helped him grow, change, and endure difficult times.
I didn’t know much about this story other than a vague memory that someone had walked across Niagara Falls. I am so glad I read it and learned more about an industry I knew almost nothing about and how God creates beautiful change in people and their family history.

📚JOYS📚
I enjoyed reading about his faith, learning about all the training preparation behind these kinds of incredible cable walks. Near the end of the book I had to pause and find videos of him walking across Niagara Fall and the Grand Canyon while praying.

📚CHALLENGES📚
The writing was not very smooth at times and there was a lot of Christian lingo that might not be accessible to some people. I also wish that the memoir would have spent more time with his personal life along with the details about his professional challenges.

📚TOPIC & LANGUAGE CONSIDERATIONS📚
Brief mentions of domestic violence, violent deaths, stunt accidents and injuries, Nazi Germany, miscarriage, and infidelity while giving family history.
