This story picks up where book one of the Crimson Realm Chronicles series left off. It means that you don’t want to consider this book a standalone. To truly enjoy Crimson Realm you should read the books in order. Plus if you read the previous book, you’re going to be looking forward to this follow-up anyway. If you compare this story to one of your favorite, or childhood favorite, television series like I did than think of this as just another episode.

Brenn’s story is more adventure and action with a little suspense thrown in. Sex and romance are secondary. I found this book was harder to turn away from. It felt that book one was just a set up for this latest. And I certainly had no trouble playing any scene out in my mind. There’s a character “not from around here” that had me laughing at times but had them a little frustrated at times.

Fantasy is great for people with a very vivid imagination – limitless possibilities. Even though we have no reference for the characters and creatures that the authors have created, those that love both science fiction and fantasy will have no problem seeing what they look like. So even though this story had come to an end your imagination is ready for the next adventure that will happen when you read Sword of Betrayal.

I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
