I hated the first book but I decided to read the second just in case it got better. It didn't. If you haven't seen my review of The Fire Within, you can read it here: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/110858704

I gave The Fire Within four stars, but alas, I have given Icefire just two. It went from being a series about squirrels to actually being about dragons, but there were many, many weird things that occurred in Icefire. Like weird sensual things and references. I really don't want to know how it is that Liz has a dragon baby......Despite the cleanliness and the lightheartedness of the first book, the series took a very random turn to become somewhat suggestive. I went and looked up how the next book was, and apparently it only gets less appropriate from here. I was rather shocked, I confess. This started as an adorable kids series then proceeded to lose its mind. I will not be reading the rest of the series, quite sadly.

Great when I read it as a child, reading it again as an adult felt a little slow.

I went into the second book of this series expecting to have an expansion of the first one with David “believing” a little bit more in the Auma of the dragons and what makes them special to certain people, such as Liz and David. I was not disappointed. I found myself enjoying the second more than the first in the series, so far. I enjoyed the new characters we met and I enjoyed the parts that they played in the second and I am excited to see what part they play in the rest of the series.

While interesting and enjoyable, this isn't a series that I'm going to be able to read straight through. I will absolutely be finishing the series, but with some other books in between.

gave the author a second chance.. This book is like breaking wind in public, you want to be away from it as fast as you can and you don't want to be associated with it.
