What an absolute banger of a book. As always Vijay Prashad has no issue with taking a lot of information and compacting it in a fast paced, easy to read format. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone interested in the impact of US intervention worldwide.

I wanted to love this. I was keen to read both the topic and from a communist historian, as even more critical takes on American imperialism and the brutality and secrecy used to secure it often parrot liberal and capitalistic tenets.

But this was almost unreadable.  Meandering, poorly structured, went back and forth in time and place and introduced people to
Never mention them again. It was hard to follow and felt like a free-writing exercise.

So far the Jakarta Method is much more readable, though it does seem to fall prey to the American sensibility in describing almost a century of overthrowing governments and assassin aging leaders who offered a viable alternative.

DNF at 13%. I agree with some of the other 1 star reviews. This language used in this book makes the text really inaccessible. Also, the author has completed decided to for go context and details regarding incidents. There are a lot of complicated ideas here that the author really don't have the luxury to jump around and so quickly as he does. Incredibly unreadable.

Amazing book. It is jam-packed with information while also being a very short and easy read. It is extremely important to understand the true intentions of US foreign policy. Our country commits so many atrocities against innocent people and civilians who are simply wanting to make the world a more just and fair place. We institute fascist and brutal dictatorships (while claiming to spread democracy) that squeeze all of the wealth and dignity out of countries and their people. The US is and always has been a brutal colonialist power, and we need to understand, admit, and change that.
