i love this book and i love the movie and now i love it as an audiobook they are all perfect

some differences btwn the book and movie im noticing now
  • bennet parents’ are unlikeable and ineffective parents
  • mary’s purpose as a channel for austen’s critique of landed gentry
  • longer timeline overall - the gardners and collins have more significant roles in the back and forth
  • more character development within darcy and lizzie which was nice

still hits every time 🫦 my favorite rich white people

Mr Collins, mentre tutti si stanno già riunendo nella sala da pranzo, rimane fuori ad ammirare ed elogiare l’ampiezza e l’eleganza del giardino intorno a Pemberley e la magnificenza della tenuta, e si dichiara certo del fatto che sia stata Lady Catherine ad avere ispirato tanta bellezza nella costruzione dell’edificio e nella disposizione dell’arredamento esterno ed interno, in quanto nobile donna dai gusti decisamente raffinati;

intanto Lydia conta il numero dei bagni presenti nell’edificio e mette il broncio perchè la sua casa e quella di Wickham è grande quanto il salottino da tè dei Darcy;

Caroline Bingley che comunque non demorde, ma si ostina a fare gli occhi dolci a Darcy, sotto i dolci occhi della di lui moglie;

Mrs. Bennet conta il numero di servitori e fa osservare a Jane che lei e Bingley ne hanno meno. Tuttavia, si augura che, data la bellezza di Jane superiore a quella della sorella Lizzy, i suoi figli, seppure più poveri rispetti ai piccoli Darcy, saranno per lo meno più gradevoli all’aspetto;

Mr. Bennet cerca di sfuggire alle paternali del cugino Collins come meglio può;

Kitty si chiede quando mai toccherà anche a lei la fortuna di incontrare il suo gentiluomo ricco e beneducato sul cavallo bianco;

(Bspw. Lydia oder Wickham.)

There is a stubbornness about me that never can bear to be frightened at the will of others. My courage always rises with every attempts to intimidate me.
