I only didn’t cry reading this because of how many times I had to hold back tears reading in public spaces! Such a good book, my immense love for both the In the Heights musical and movie only grew exponentially!!

Cool to hear the rationales behind the logistical and artistic choices. Glad that I’d seen the movie version before I listened to the audiobook. Wish I’d gotten a chance to see a stage production to be able to compare.

Love this musical and bought the book for a project. Such a beautiful story and brilliant collaboration from Lin Manuel Miranda and Quiara Alegría Hudes.

I loved reading about how this musical was created and the bond it created between the people involved. It was heart warming to see how this musical touched so many lives.

Worth the audio book listen, to hear Lin sing bits of all the songs in his in-between chapters sections! <3

This book takes us behind the scenes from the very first idea in Lin-Manuel Miranda's bedroom until we will soon get to see the musical's adaption on screen in our favorite cinema. As a fan of In the Heights, I loved to discover not only the production process with all its challenges, but also the community it formed. Jeremy McCarter writes attentively and cohensive, but not always chronologically which makes for an interesting, catching read. Lin and Quiara add their thoughts on the adaption, the lyrics, and the time they spent with this amazing story during the last twenty years. Emotional, inspiring, and entertaining - just like the musical itself.
