Started May 27th, 2013 after finishing the first book in the series Huntress Moon.
It read faster for me than the first book in the series, picking up speed at ca. 50% (maybe earlier).
In my opinion there where people which they should have talked to or at least tried to find: the boy who was beat up by Clara at age 14.
Great ending. But not so much for a third book, although I like there to be one, only...
Well I do not want to spoil it here.
Recommended.
As with the last book to many previews for other books, rendering the "time left in book" useless, or one has to look up, how much time is calculated for the previews (47 min. for me, which I then mentally subtracted from the "time left ...").

This was a really great book, I read it stand alone without reading the first in the series and it works very well as a great book in its own right. But as some of the story starts in the first book I may go back. It's an easy read with a good plot and easy to follow characters. I would definitely recommend this to anyone that likes a good crime thriller.

DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Original stars were 2.5 rounded up to 3 stars, adjusted to 2 by rounding down instead after finding out about Sokoloff's threatening and attempting to get her fans to brigade Sarra Cannon (see link).

Sokoloff is now on my Do Not Read/Do Not Buy list, I'm no longer a fan.

I got this because it was an inexpensive Book Riot deal. It's a mashup of my favorite things- profiler-style protag, clever and interestingly motivated 'bad guy' who in this case happens to be a young woman. The cat and mouse component is really well done and the fact that all the gray area is part of the story (and has consequences) is really interesting. Solid if you want a new crime series. I'm picking up the 3rd book imminently.

Why do I read books before the series is finished!?!? Now I have to wait to find out more!

With these books I really think you have to read them in order. Starting with this one rather than [b:Huntress Moon|23957469|Huntress Moon (The Huntress/FBI Thrillers Book 1)|Alexandra Sokoloff|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1422707926s/23957469.jpg|21437405] would make you miss so much of what's going on that I can't imagine liking the story as much.

May contain spoilers from book one:

The book picks up shortly after the first book drops off. Cara is gone and Special Agent Roarke with the help of his team are bringing down some of the bad guys that she wormed out. Roarke knows he has to arrest Cara when she is found but he is conflicted. This could have gone all moody with Roarke mooning away after a beautiful woman, but the author gives you enough that you really don't want her caught either. The tension that is felt is beyond sexual attraction. It's hard to explain exactly why these books work so well, but they do.

Vigilante or not, Cara is a strong character. I do wish the books would give us even more of her. The trauma of her life is just unbelievable. She has nothing or no one-and hasn't since her family was murdered.

I said in the first book that fans of Criminal Minds will enjoy these books and this one was even better than the first one. Roarke brings in his old mentor from the BAU and the behavior behind "the Reaper" is fascinating to read as in unfolds.

I'm curious to how the author is going to wrap up the story-line. Will Cara go free? There are so many ways this story could go......

I received an arc copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Nice work. The ending held up, it came together nicely. There's more to come but she got the big bits out of the way. I'll be sure to read the next one when it comes out.
