There are many unexpected twists and turns, definitely keeps you guessing, but an enjoyable listen.

I really enjoyed this a lot more than the first book in the series.

Four star story, three star pacing.

Holt has a distinct style and sense of humor, in this fantasy/office politics mashup is quite entertaining. However, there is a little meandering.

The series is still good BUT I’ve enjoyed the first book more. Anyway, Sophie confirms herself as the crappiest love interest EVER, and Contess Judy is the ✨BEST VILLAIN✨ ever.

Come on Sky dump Contess Judy my way!!!

These books by Tom Holt are growing on me.

I started reading them because he's also K.J. Parker.

The Tom Holt books seem to be generally lighter with more raw humour.

I think of myself as not being into dark stuff, but I maybe prefer the K.J. Parker books so far.

Still I plan to read all of them eventually.

Enjoyed this one. Better than the first. Some great character writing, too. Ricky and Benny, being my favourites. Slightly annoying that so much remains unanswered for so long, and one or two loose ends are bothering me, but otherwise, exciting and fun.

Felt like this one was lacking in the middle, but I enjoyed it just the same. Not as much as the first in the series, mind you, but I could see myself rereading this in a few years.
