I felt every single wasted second tick by, then I felt every year tick by after that. The book captures the passage of time in one of the most devastating ways I’ve ever read.

This book was slow to get into for me. Initially it felt like nothing was happening and I considered DNFing it over and over. I decided to stick through because I have heard so many good things and I also agreed to read it and then watch the movie with a friend before discussing both.

Eventually, this did get better for me and portrayed a striking display of intimacy and love and showed the complicated feelings surrounding both things and youth. This book will make you feel strange and question your beliefs on morality issues which for me, helped increase the rating. I believe books should often challenge the way you feel about things. I also think this is the kind of book where you may understand more each time you read it and it may be worth a reread.

Not a single filler word. Beautiful, poetic, all consuming. Couldn’t stop gorging myself on this, finished in a day.

This book made me fall in love with reading after never really finding joy in books. It is life changing. I read it at a time in my life when I had no motivation to do anything. It was in quarantine, I felt numb, until I read this book. This book sparked emotions in me I hadn’t felt in months. I resonated so deeply with Elio’s character and his development through the course of the book. It is a magnificent story and Andrè Aciman told it beautifully through incredible writing.
