Why did I like this so much? I think I put a lot of symbolism onto it that may or may not have been there.

Would rate less than 1. I didn't get it or understand it. Starbucks was a recurring theme that the story appeared to revolve around.

Um, i liked the first few pages but then it just gets weird. The love interest is a troll covered in mud? I don’t really get how the prince falls for her because it abruptly switches to them just being friendly to him calling her his love. I don’t understand how a creature described as a troll covered in mud can be compared to a human drinking Starbucks.

All of a sudden Adam starts rubbing the mud off her cheek (is that supposed to be romantic?) and then calling her ‘my love’ out of nowhere??? Um?? I don’t really see how he fell in love with her because that wasn’t shown, I’m actually confused if it just skipped that but I mean? It’s just weird. And then he goes home and goes to sleep ‘without changing out of his muddy clothes’ what is this book?? How can it be romantic, I wish it had just stayed focused on them becoming friends. Like at first it seemed normal and the troll and the prince were just sharing Starbucks everyday, and I had a feeling this was going in a darker direction but then I checked the description again and it makes it seem like it’s a lighthearted romance? It’s not? I just have no idea what this book is supposed to be. But the ending was so abrupt so I was just like okay??

I do like some of the quotes, “happiness is about focusing on the good things and drawings those things towards you.”

I love Carry On and Fangirl by this author so I just thought I’d try this but I don’t like short stories usually, and this was just not good to me.

Fun little story. I like a rewritten fairy tale and this one packed some good characterisation and themes of modern life into a short space.
