Stephanie Hartwell has been covering whatever journalist assignments are given to her when she fights for the one covering Aleksandr Volynsky's trade to the Seattle Earthquakes. She knows all his stats and it turns out they have a history together.

Yet both of somewhat moved on. Stephanie is engaged to Joe Warner and Alex has a string of different women all of the time. Yet, neither have fully moved on but ghosts from the past resurface and in a dangerous way. Will they both be able to save themselves before they help the other or do they truly need each other to completely heal?

This book blew me away. Part could be due to the fact I love hockey but this book dealt with such serious topics that need to be addressed and did so in a way that broke your heart so many different times.

Both Alex and Stephanie had ghosts in their pasts that they pushed aside and never knew how to deal with. Alex was so afraid of being stigmatized and failing, yet he was suffering so much but was afraid to ask for help. I loved both of these characters so much as they had so many weaknesses yet a core strength that pushed them through and allowed their vulnerabilities to show.

The review is difficult to write as the book is so heavy with things that can't be spoiled but I can't wait until the next book, although I am somewhat scared to see the emotional roller coaster that the next one puts me on, if this one is any indication!
