I have read this book at least four times. It is my favourite ballet story after Ballet Shoes. It warms the heart and makes you think with a sweet, almost melancholy like nostalgia in the same vein of Kate DiCamillo's books. For people who like animals confidantes, Bonaventure (a mouse) is one of the sweetest and most charming animals in children's lit.
