This book is nostalgia for me. It was one of the first manga I ever read and I loved that it had a light romance. I wanted to be best friends with these characters and go to anime conventions (and still do!)

I loved reading this book way before I ever went to a comic con, but now that I have been to dozens of cons I feel the need to reread this soon.

Very cutesy but also weirdly dramatic at parts? It's a very short read, being a graphic novel or manga or whatever, but the love story is addicting and the characters are all the weird people even I don't talk to, but I still loved them. I only read this on a recommendation, and I was not disappointed. Side note: con culture is so weird.

It was okay.

For what it IS, it's good. Very nostalgic for me, very teenagery, pretty sweet. It's a fun read and difficult to put down. I really did enjoy reading it, although I find it difficult to say why. Basically, it's been a guilty pleasure. The characters are kind of okay, although by the end they do get on my nerves a bit (especially the main character, who goes from being reasonably upset by things to just being ridiculous). There's too much going on in some places, not enough in others (why do we find out what happened to Matt only in a tiny note in the back of the book and not in the actual plot anywhere?)... I really liked the side characters, for the most part. The art is well done, and the story is cute.

So... what I'm trying to say is, it's not good literature, it's not even always a very well constructed story. But it is fun, and I do recommend it, especially if you like romance or have ever been to an anime convention.

funny, but volume 1 is the best and captures the giddy excitement of going to a convention.

Yeah, yeah, yeah I know the artist isn't Asian so it isn't "technically" manga. Get over it. I found out there was an ultimate edition and gave my self a little present the other day. This is a surprisingly deep love story set over three years at an anime con. We follow eager but naive would be manga writer Christie as she attends her first con, begins to determine her future as a writer, and falls in love with a mysterious, wounded (literally and figuratively) bad boy named Matt. Funny and romantic and (I'm told) a pretty accurate account of your typical anime con.

The series manages to poke a bit of fun at the typical manga tropes while also being entertaining and Chmakova's story telling and art work are really lovely. This is one of the first manga's I read and its a great way to test the waters.
