Clássico Zimler: interessante, bem estruturado, bem escrito.

Throughout this book, I was mesmerised by the beauty of the language and the flow of the sentences in their structure and vocabulary. It was like reading a song of a river, it was so natural and calming. Lazarus' story is human in every aspect, he has hopes, fears, doubts and love. There is intimacy on every level and I found myself drawn into a life. As with many readers, I use fiction as an opportunity to see how life might be through someone else's eyes and this is an eye-opener. The story of the Jesus (Yeshua) in this gospel was more realistic and meaningful to me than the official gospels. All the characters were not glossed or written as saints, they are shown as humans with all of their emotions. It is a first person narrative so you only see everyone through the eyes of Lazarus but he is a merciful and understanding narrator, intent on teaching his grandson, to whom the book is addressed, to be merciful as well.
I would recommend this book and only regret that the copy I borrowed from my library had been edited by a previous reader to correct spelling mistakes and dropped prepositions, which was rather distracting. :)

It's a hard subject to tackle, but it was an interesting fictional perspective on the Passion
